The Salvation Army invites all Thunder Bay residents to its free Picnic at the Centre at the Journey to Life Centre. The afternoon is packed with fun for all ages, including children's games, skateboard demos by Cinema 5 Skatepark, live music, glitter tattoos, balloon animals, a doggy meet-and-greet, and displays of antique motorcycles and emergency vehicles — a police cruiser, fire truck, ambulance, and so much more! The opening ceremony will feature the Indigenous All My Relations Drum group, and special guests Shieldy, Moose Medic, and Sparky will be on hand throughout the event. Free hot dogs, beverages, popcorn, and snow cones — courtesy of sponsor United Steelworkers — will be available for all.

Beyond the entertainment, the picnic is an opportunity to meet neighbours, connect with community partners, and learn about the services The Salvation Army provides to Thunder Bay's homeless and vulnerable populations through centre tours and information booths. Please note that on-site parking lots will be closed during the event; street parking and nearby lots at Harbourview Funeral Centre and St. Ignatius High School are available, with drop-off access at barricaded entrances for those with mobility needs.
