We are pleased to invite you the 4th Annual Stepping Out for Foot Health Walk, taking place on Sunday, November 2, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Intercity Shopping Centre. This impactful event raises both awareness and vital funds to provide specialized footwear that helps prevent amputations caused by diabetic foot ulcers—a serious and growing concern in our region. Last year, during our inaugural walk, we were proud to welcome 75 walkers and raise $8,200 toward foot health. Thanks to generous community support, we were able to take meaningful steps in providing protective footwear to individuals at high risk for diabetes-related complications. We are building on that momentum this year, with a bold goal of raising $50,000. Why is this so critical? In Northwestern Ontario, the rate of lower limb amputations is twice the provincial average, often as a result of diabetes-related foot ulcers. The right footwear can prevent wounds from forming, reducing the risk of serious infections and ultimately saving limbs—and lives. In fact, the Lower Limb Preservation Program distributed 682 pairs of shoes last year to those in need across our region. Your participation will directly support this life-changing initiative and show your commitment to health and wellness in our community.
We’re proud to partner with Matawa Health Co-Operative, the Knights of Columbus Bishop Gallagher 7332, and St. Joseph’s Foundation in this initiative.
