Join us for a special lecture with Todd Miller as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. This compelling presentation weaves together the ship’s tragic history with Gordon Lightfoot’s haunting 1976 ballad, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” Todd will guide you verse by verse through the song, sharing historical insights and powerful anecdotes along the way—culminating with a 1979 PBS performance by Gordon Lightfoot.
Todd Miller is a retired elementary school teacher and principal from Thunder Bay. His interest in the Great Lakes started with the book Paddle-to-the-Sea in Grade 1 and continued with his time on Lake Superior from the harbour at Silver Islet. Todd’s passion for all things maritime, including shipping, lighthouses, and shipwrecks, was undoubtedly a catalyst for his post retirement work as an Historian and Lecturer for Viking cruise ships on both the Great Lakes and around the world.
